Newtown Voters Approve Latest $87.4M School Budget

NEWTOWN, CT — Voters returned to the polls in Newtown Tuesday and approved the proposed 2024-25 schools budget, according to the unofficial vote tally posted by the town's registrar of voters.

The final confirmation will come from the town clerk.

The second version of the spending plan was lighter than the one residents rejected at the ballot box last month by $1,408,307, trimmed down by the Legislative Council at its April 29 meeting.

The newly-approved $87,409,066 plan represents a 2.75 percent spending increase over the current school budget.
