Newtown's Latest Memorial Day Weekend Forecast

A lot of people have barbecues planned with family and friends this Memorial Day weekend, and many others have plans to attend ceremonies and parades honoring those who died while serving in the country’s armed forces.
It’s clear from the latest National Weather Service forecast that Sunday is the best day to have outdoor plans as temperatures around Connecticut will be in the low to mid 70s and skies will be sunny.
Saturday isn’t bad either, just a bit chillier with temperatures in the mid to high 60s but again it will be sunny.

Earlier this week, thunderstorms and showers were forecast for Memorial Day itself, which is when numerous ceremonies and parades are scheduled.
The good news is, it appears the showers will hold off until Monday evening, and while it will be mostly cloudy there won’t be any rain during the day. Temperatures will be in the low to mid 70s on Monday.

It appears showers and thunderstorms are possible for Monday night and just in time for back to work and school on Tuesday.

Here is Newtown’s latest hyperlocal forecast for the Memorial Day holiday weekend:
- Today: High near 62.TonightMostly cloudy, with a low around 44. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph after midnight.
- Friday: A chance of rain, mainly after 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 48 by 5pm. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
- Friday Night: A chance of rain before midnight, then a slight chance of rain after 4am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a temperature falling to near 45 by 8pm, then rising to around 66 during the remainder of the night. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 9 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
- Saturday: A slight chance of showers before 10am. Partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny, with a temperature falling to around 44 by 5pm. Northwest wind 10 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
- Saturday Night: Clear, with a temperature falling to near 37 by 9pm, then rising to around 61 during the remainder of the night.
- Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 77.
- Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 50.
- Memorial Day: Mostly sunny, with a high near 76.
- Monday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55.
