PD: Three Arrested After Stealing Purses, Fleeing Newtown TJ Max
Police recently arrested one of the suspects.

NEWTOWN, CT- Three women were arrested after they allegedly stole $1,200 worth of purses from TJ Max on South Main Street and then fled in a vehicle.
The incident occurred on Nov. 3. The women ran out of the store and police arrived as they were getting into a vehicle. An officer ordered the driver out of the vehicle, but the driver accelerated in the direction of the officer and then fled the scene, police said.
Police determined the two women in the store were Marques Bond, 21, of Waterbury and Melkeisha Smith, 20, of Waterbury.

The driver was identifed as Khadijah Cam, 21, also of Waterbury.
Bond was arrested in December and charged with sixth-degree larceny and two counts of conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny.

Cam was arrested on Feb. 15 and charged with conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny, interfering with police, operating a motor vehicle without a license, reckless driving, first-degree reckless endangerment and risk of injury to a child.
Smith is in the custody of the State of Connecticut for similar alleged crimes. She will be charged with fifth-degree larceny, conspiracy and interfering with police.
