Sandy Hook Victim Jesse Lewis On Medal Of Freedom 'Short List'
Jesse Lewis, who told his classmates to run when the shooter's rifle jammed is on the short list for the medal, his brother J.T. Lewis said.

NEWTOWN, CT — Jesse Lewis, a 6-year-old victim of the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting is being considered for the Presidential Medal of Freedom, according to his brother J.T. Lewis.
"My heroic brother is on the short list to get the Presidential Medal of Freedom," Lewis tweeted Wednesday. "Jesse saved 9 of his classmates’ during the Sandy Hook shooting. President Trump was just briefed about Jesse’s story."
Jesse Lewis is credited with yelling for his classmates to run when the shooter's rifle jammed. Some students did make it out of the classroom, but Jesse was killed. The shooting left 20 children and six educators dead.

J.T. Lewis previously met with President Donald Trump and talked about how school safety can be improved. He announced he will challenge current State Sen. Tony Hwang in the Republican primary.
