Solar Panel Challenge for Newtown Residents and Businesses

For a limited time, Newtown residents and businesses can take advantage of a program to help install solar panel system on their roofs.

The GoGreenNewtown webite said the Newtown Sustainable Energy Commission launched the initiative to provide a streamlined process and significant financial savings.

The Sustainable Energy Commission is working with Direct Energy Solar and Ross Solar Group for the 2015 Newtown Energy Challenge.

Kathy Quinn, chairwoman of the Newtown Sustainable Energy Commission, said the challenge gives residents and business owners an opportunity to become educated about adopting solar energy.

The program will run through Dec. 5.
