Students Bloom in St. Rose School Kindergarten...and Beyond!

Walk through the doors of St. Rose School Kindergarten into a world of light, learning and love. Under the guidance of experienced, nurturing teachers, the seeds of reading, writing, math, STEM, faith, leadership and bright futures are planted, resulting in beautiful blooms.

Daily lessons engage students in key dimensions of learning. Expanding on an initial grant from Foundations in Education, a STEM program was established, giving hands on lab experiences throughout the year, culminating in a Kindergarten Science Fair. Service is a prevalent part of the curriculum. Every year the class adopts the Newtown Police, sending officers cards and goodies and inviting them into the classroom for reading, games and other activities. Kindergarten students participate in weekly specials classes including Physical Education, Art and Music. A variety of Enrichment and Athletics programs are available after school, adding dimension to the curriculum.

A beloved tradition at St. Rose School is the Buddy program where younger students are paired with older students for a myriad of activities including assemblies, reading sessions, Field Day, service projects and special events. These connections forge bonds that build confidence and set the stage for future growth.

Primary grade teachers work together throughout the year to ensure that every child is ready for the next step and given the tools needed to excel. Student growth from late August to early June is showcased during a beautiful graduation ceremony complete with caps and gowns. Exuberant and confident, these students are ready to set off to First grade. “My Daughter had such a wonderful experience in Kindergarten at St. Rose.
