High pressure dominates the mid section of the country with temps well below zero across the Great Plains. A stationary front stretches north-south along the Rockies from NM to BC, with a storm system off the Pacific Northwest Coast. Coldest air stretches from central Saskatchewan to ND -40F.

Low pressure over the Gulf dissolves and reforms off the SC coast and moves east-northeast delivering snow from the Delmarva Peninsula to central NC, and rain across central FL. Meanwhile a trailing upper air disturbance delivers a small reinforcement of cold air for New England and New York with scattered lake and mountain show showers through Friday and Saturday.
Sunday, a slight moderating trend begins for the Northeast.
Early next week, another upper air disturbance crosses New England with light snow for central and northern New England and New York.
At week's end another coastal storm develops threatening the Northeast with more snow and rain.
