Occluded low over northern IL with a warm front snaking through the central Appalachians. Two cold fronts one extending from the occlusion to the Louisiana Gulf and into coastal Texas, the other through the lower Midwest to Nevada.

Low pressure over the Midwest gyrates over the Great Lakes region while a new coastal low forms off Delmarva. Significant rain stretches across southern New England and Long Island late in the week which then moves into the Gulf of Maine bringing heavy rain to southern NH to central Maine. Over the weekend, the storm moves into the Canadian Maritimes leaving the Northeast entrenched in a winter-like pattern of cold air. Large high pressure maintains the unseasonably cold air for the eastern third of the country into next week.
