Dual low pressure systems dominate the picture with an occlusion over Lake Erie and a cold front extending from western PA down the Appalachians then west to NM. A second low off the Delmarva Peninsula with a cold front extending southward to central FL. A string of unorganized low pressure areas along a stationary front across the central and southern Rockies.

Wide area of rain from southeast Ontario to southern New England with the heaviest rain from eastern CT to Block Island. Scattered rain and snow showers from central MT to the Cascades.

Low pressure moves from Lake Erie to southern Ontario and dissolves while the coastal storm off Delmarva veers northward towards the Gulf of Maine and intensifies rapidly. By the weekend, the coastal storm makes landfall over Down East Maine and then weakens. As cold air fills the core the 5400m thickness drops into Northern New England giving the possibility of mixed rain/snow showers from the Adirondacks to the White Mountains of Maine. High pressure then dominates the weather in the Northeast into early next week. A new but weaker low pressure system moves moisture towards New England by mid week.
