Large areas of rain from the Southern Tier of New York to North Carolina. A second area of showers from MN to IL. Showers extending from southeast MT to the TX coast with thunderstorms.

Moisture over the Mid Atlantic States struggles to penetrate southern New England over the next couple of days but it loses most of its punch. At the end of the week strong cyclogenesis occurs over southeast PA and spreads into New York and New England over the weekend. A drying trend occurs for the second half of the weekend but colder air returns to the Northeast into early next week with the 5400m thickness making an appearance from the Adirondacks to the White Mountains of Maine.
