Current Weather: A very intense storm system over Newfoundland and Labrador continues to swirl cold air around its core into the Northeast with snow over Aroostook Maine and widely scattered snow showers over the Green and White Mountains. A second storm forming over central Texas is spreading rain from AL through OK with snow across the Top Hat of the Texas Panhandle into to New Mexico. High pressure dominates the weather from the Rockies to the West Coast. Low pressure in the Gulf of Alaska is delivering rain along the Pacific Northwest into BC with snow in the mountains.
Coldest air is found over northern Yukon, -22F.

The intense Canadian Maritime storm finally starts to weaken and moves out of the Northeast by Sunday morning with high winds diminishing. The GFS moves the Texan storm eastward where it dissipates and then reforms off the South Carolina Coast and then moves out to sea.
Early next week, an Alberta Clipper swipes the northern Tier of the Midwest and then moves into central Quebec delivering much milder air to the Northeast. By midweek, a new surge of cold air invades northern New England which then retreats back to Canada by week's end.
