Current Weather: High pressure over central Quebec is providing a cool flow over the Northeast with its return flow producing snow across the Upper Great Lakes. Developing storm systems from the Gulf of Alaska to the Pacific Northwest is delivering rain/snow from British Columbia to northern California out to western Montana.
Coldest core of air is over central Alberta, -33F.

The GFS is setting up a pattern change with a strengthening trough from the Gulf of Alaska to California delivering cold stormy weather for the Western third of the country with warm air returning by the end of the week for the Northeast.

At the end of the weekend the GFS moves a strong cold front across the Northeast producing rain and thunderstorms up and down the Eastern Seaboard Sunday and Monday. The front quickly moves offshore and mild air returns to the Northeast by mid next week.
