Current Weather: A cold Canadian flow along with weak upper air disturbances are triggering lake and mountain rain/snow showers from western Pennsylvania through the Berkshires to The Gaspe. Most of the country is in fair weather with a few scattered showers being caused by a weak frontal system stretching from Nebraska to Calgary.

The GFS projects the core of the last arctic air mass to pass over New England and then exit by the end of the week. Over the weekend, a Bermuda High sets up a return flow with warm frontogenesis taking place from the Mid Atlantic States to the Midwest and moves northeastward. The warm front marches to northern New England where its progress is checked, causing the warm front to transform into a quasi stationary front over central New England. The 5400m thickness travels as far as the Canadian border so most of the precipitation is in the form of rain showers except for the high elevations of the Green and White Mountains, where a mix is likely. At the end of the weekend the Bermuda High pushes another surge of mild air northward to the Northeast with showers into early next week when the 5400m thickness punches through to St. Lawrence Valley past Quebec City.
