Current Weather: Mild air is finally punching through northern New England after a weekend of winter weather, while southern New England had a taste of summer. Scattered showers stretch from the Adirondacks to Quebec with some left over icing in Aroostook County. The Southeast is experiencing a line of showers and thunderstorms as a cold front is moving eastward from north of Montreal to the Texas Gulf Coast. Low Pressure spinning off the Washington/Oregon coast is producing rain and snow from the California coast to Colorado.

The GFS moves low pressure and mild air up to the Canadian Maritimes. Over the next 24-36 hours a cold front rolls across the Northeast sending rain through southern New England. The advancing cold air from Ontario is checked by cyclogenesis over the upper Midwest. This sends another surge of mild air from the south central states all the way to Maine mid week. Unlike previous systems, the mild air stays intact over the Northeast through the weekend along with higher 700mb RH high enough to produce showers. However, early next week the GFS sends another surge of cold as far south as the Mid Atlantic states.
