Current Weather: Frontal system stretching from Nova Scotia to west Texas is generating a band of showers from offshore Long Island to Oklahoma.

A core of cold air over Alberta/Saskatchewan colliding with moist air sweeping over the Midwest is producing rain from north Texas to Nebraska with a mix of rain and snow over the Dakotas.

Coldest air is located over eastern Hudson's Bay; -16F.

Cyclogenesis occurs over Arkansas/Missouri and heads northeast pushing a mild flow into the Northeastern and Mid Atlantic states with moisture arriving for the second half of the weekend into early next week. Meanwhile, the GFS pushes another surge of cold air into Upstate New York and Northern New England with the 5400m thickness moving south of New England by mid week as reinforcing cold air sweeps down from Ontario. Stubborn cold air remains in the Northeast into late next week.
