Today's Weather: High pressure moving off the Mid Atlantic Coast is setting up a return flow of moderating air over New England. A string of disorganized low pressure systems stretches from the Midwest through the Rockies up to British Columbia. High pressure in control of the West Coast. The Aleutian Low has reformed in the Gulf of Alaska and along with the Greenland/Icelandic low, this pattern is looking similar to last December. The coldest core of air is over Central Alberta -38F.

Radar: A large area of snow over PA stretches to the upper Great Lakes with rain from OH to KY with thunderstorms across Western TN to AR. The Aleutian low is feeding rain and snow to the Pacific Northwest.

GFS: The GFS shows scattered low pressure areas organizing into a single storm this afternoon over central AR with snow spreading into New England during the afternoon hours.

Sunday, the storm strengthens and moves into western New York State. This is a more southerly route than the previous runs. Instead of tracking up the St. Lawrence Valley, the GFS is now moving the main storm across New York state into western MA. Consequently, the 5400m thickness does not penetrate as deeply into Central New England as earlier predicted. As the storm heads into Western MA, a second coastal storm forms over Boston Harbor.

Sunday Night, the GFS changes the rain back to snow over southwest New England before ending by Monday morning and the QPF shows heavy snow amounts across central and northern New England moving out Monday morning followed by mountain snow showers.

The GFS sets up another cold northwesterly flow of air producing the usual lake and mountain snow showers through most of next week. The next storm is a coastal that forms over the FL/GA coast and heads up the Eastern Seaboard at the end of next week. Right now, the GFS shows this storm sideswiping southeast New England with snow.
