Current Weather: An occluded front is moving across NY and PA with a cold front stretching from PA to Mexico. High pressure dominates the western half of the country.
Coldest air is located over Arctic Bay Canada, -24F.

Colder air sweeps into the Northeast and remains until the end of the week. By the end of the week, low pressure moves through the Midwest towards Canada. This pushes milder air through the eastern third of the country with cold air sinking back into the Northern Plains States. Moisture accompanies the milder air over the Northeast for the first half of the weekend with colder air attempting to make a return early next week. At this point, the GFS stunts the southward movement of the colder air in favor of more mild moist air for the start of next week.
