Today's Weather: Low pressure organizing over the mid Appalachians with a forward warm front hanging up in the mountains from VA to SC and then stretching to just south of Long Island. A series of small low pressure systems stretch up and down the Rockies connecting to the weakening Aleutian low. Coldest air is over Saskatchewan -40F.
Radar: Large area of snow stretching from northern New England to MI. The rain/snow line stretches along the MA/VT-NH border with a mixture of rain, freezing rain and sleet from RI through CT into the southern half of New York State. Strong thunderstorms are moving from NC to the Florida Panhandle. Rain and Snow over the Pacific Northwest.

GFS: The GFS shows low pressure moving across western PA this afternoon and then weakening over western NY while a secondary coastal storm forms over the South Jersey Shore. This is considerably south of the previous track. As the new low moves over CT this evening a return flow sets up over southwest New England changing the mix precip to snow before ending late tonight. Snow continues across northern New England into the early morning hours with a cold northwesterly flow of cold Canadian air sweeping southward in the storm's wake. This cold flow continues into mid week with lake and mountain snow showers.
Wednesday, a string of low pressure areas over north Florida organizes into a coastal storm off the South Carolina coast. It then heads northeast to Cape Hatteras. The storm wraps up out at sea brushing the south coast of New England with light snow except higher amounts for Cape Cod, Nantucket and Block Island as it races to the north Atlantic. Behind the system, high pressure dominates the eastern half of the country through next weekend.
