Current Weather: Stationary front winding through the southern Appalachians to the South Carolina Coast. A second frontal system extending from southeastern Ontario to Nevada.
Scattered showers over the northern Adirondacks, another batch over the southern Appalachians and a widespread area of precipitation over the central part of the country.
Coldest air is located over Banks Island; -2F.

High pressure moving off the Eastern Seaboard pushes a southwesterly flow with moisture from the Gulf States into the Northeast. This results in a strengthening low pressure system to intensify over southern Quebec which moves across northern New England over the weekend. As the system moves off the Maine coast the second half of the weekend, colder air dips into New England bringing rain/snow showers to Green and White Mountains. However, a new cyclone develops over the upper Midwest bringing another surge of milder air into the Northeast with the 5460m thickness reaching northward into Aroostook early next week.
