Today's Weather: An intense low over Prince Edward Island is delivering a strong flow of cold air direct from Quebec Province to New England and New York. Arctic high pressure stretches from Ellesmere Island to the Texas Gulf Coast. Temperatures well below zero across the Northern Plains into central Canada. A stationary front with small low pressure areas is located along the front stretching from the Yucatan Peninsula to the Inland Waterway in AK. Coldest core of air is over northern Saskatchewan -47F.
Radar: Morning radar shows lake and mountain snow showers across the lee of the lakes and up and down the Appalachian Chain. Areas of snow can be found scattered along the stationary front from MO to Washington State where a weakened Aleutian Low is throwing moisture over the Pacific Northwest in the form of rain and snow.

GFS: Large North Atlantic storm continues to move towards Greenland leaving a cold arctic flow in its wake into mid week with the usual lake and mountain snow showers.
Midweek, cyclogenesis occurs off the Florida Panhandle coast and moves eastward to mainland FL where it then reforms off the South Carolina Coast on Thursday. The system is pushed out to sea by a large high pressure ridge centered over the country's midsection. Yesterday's run showed this storm side swiping Cape Cod and the Islands, however this run is about 100 miles farther out to sea than yesterday's track. During the course of the week, high pressure drifts offshore bringing a return flow of more moderate air for next weekend. Another weak low forms off the Mid Atlantic Coast early next week.
