The GFS shows the North Atlantic storm to continue to move eastward away from North America with slowly diminishing winds and a slight moderation into midweek.
Wednesday into Thursday the GFS forms a new storm off the Carolina coasts delivering rain and snow to the Mid Atlantic States, which then moves northeastward out to sea at the end of the week. Behind it, high pressure drifts off the Southeast Coast giving the Northeast a return flow of moderating air for the weekend.
Thursday, a backdoor cold front drops down from Quebec Province along with an upper air disturbance to set off snow and rain showers.
