UPDATE: After Newtown Boating Accident, 2 People Walked For Hours to Get Help

One person lost consciousness police said, but he later regained consciousness.

Updated, 2:15 p.m.: A rowboat tipped over on Lake Lillinonah in Newtown around 8:30 p.m. Monday and the three people inside were able to get to shore.

One man was unconscious while two others, a man and a woman, walked for hours to get help, and were spotted by a Newtown police officer walking on Hanover Street at 1:30 a.m., NBC Connecticut reports.

When emergency responders arrived they found the previously unconscious male now conscious. All three were hospitalized, NBC Connecticut reports.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is investigating.

Original post: Police rescued three people who were thrown into the water when their boat tipped over on Lake Lillinonah in Newtown late last night, Fox CT reports.

The three people were able to swim to shore but one person lost consciousness. All three were taken to a hospital around 3 a.m. They were found on Hanover Road.
