• Stratford man with gun robbed woman, forced her from moving car, police say (ctinsider.com) — Police say a Stratford man robbed a woman at gunpoint and forced her from a moving car near the Waterford Speedbowl, leaving her hospitalized with leg and arm injuries. Working with East Lyme police, officers later found the suspect and matching firearm in Niantic near Samuel M. Peretz Park, where he was arrested and held on a $250,000 bond.
• Local Event: End of Harvest at Samuel Smith Farmstead (patch.com) — Families in Niantic and East Lyme can enjoy a free End of Harvest celebration at Samuel Smith Farmstead on Saturday, Oct. 17, with live animals, kids' pumpkin painting, and hearth-cooking demos. Niantic Bay Shellfish Farm will be on-site serving oysters, alongside live music, historic house tours, and a giant pumpkin contest supporting repairs to the historic property.
