Concrete Barrier Installation on I-95 in Stonington and North Stonington (ct.gov) — Expect ongoing shoulder closures on I-95 northbound where it runs through Stonington and North Stonington as new concrete barriers are installed to protect several bridge piers. Work runs through June 10, with traffic control devices and state troopers guiding drivers, so plan extra time and use caution in this construction zone.
   

2. Westerly man gets 90 days in prison for day care assault (theday.com) — A childcare worker has been sentenced after pleading guilty to charges stemming from an assault on a 4-year-old at a North Stonington day care center. The incident, captured on surveillance video in January 2025, led to a 90-day prison term, suspended additional time, and probation with strict limits on his contact with children and vulnerable people.
   

3. Roundup: Bears' DeLaRosa a double sprint champ (thewesterlysun.com) — North Stonington fans saw Wheeler softball storm back from a 6-0 hole behind freshman pitcher Londyn Moss’s five hitless relief innings in a Class S state tournament win. The roundup also highlights strong state meet performances by Stonington and Wheeler track athletes and a Stonington boys tennis victory that sends the Bears to the Class S semifinals.
   

4. Three-Alarm Fire at CT Apartment Building Displaces 50+ People, Leaves Two Firefighters Injured (fireengineering.com) — North Stonington firefighters were among nearly 20 departments called to a massive three-alarm apartment fire in Groton that displaced around 60 residents and injured two firefighters. The blaze left the entire Ledges Apartments building uninhabitable, with the Red Cross now helping families find temporary housing while investigators work to determine the cause.
