911 Dispatch Merger Considered In North Branford

A busy period of emergency calls can sometimes become difficult to handle in North Branford.

NORTH BRANFORD, CT — Town officials are considering merging North Branford's 911 dispatch operations with those of adjacent Branford, reports WTNH-TV.

The issue has been discussed by town officials for more than a year, in part because North Branford typically has one 911 dispatcher on-duty at a time, and a busy period of calls can sometimes become difficult to handle, reports The Sound.

However, the union representing North Branford's dispatchers opposes the merger because the town's police department would have have anyone in its building during certain hours if the dispatch operations were placed in Branford.
