NORTH BRANFORD, CT — A shooter fired at a homeowner who interrupted an attempted burglary Sunday in broad daylight in North Branford, according to police.

Authorities received a 911 call around 11 a.m. about the incident in the Northford neighborhood, police said. A homeowner was alerted to a male attempting to steal an Audi from his driveway and the owner tried to confront the person, who fled toward the street, according to police.

Parked in front of the residence was a black Dodge Charger occupied by three males, police said, adding that as the would-be thief fled toward the Charger, one of the vehicle's passengers fired at least one round at the homeowner, who was not struck. The burglar jumped in the Charger through a window and the vehicle sped away, according to police.
