Light Snow Could Complicate North Branford's Friday Morning Commute; Still a Chance of Snow Late Sunday
The jury is still out trying to estimate how much snow we might get late Sunday and into Monday.
By Brian McCready.
While it’s still true that there are two snow chances scheduled in the next few days, including one tonight, there is some good news about the severity or lack thereof, of both snow chances.
The National Weather Service on Wednesday afternoon had issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Connecticut but that was rescinded Thursday morning.

Thursday’s snow chance
Light snow is possible between 9 p.m. and midnight and it’s possible snow could accumulate up to one inch of snow overnight.
Friday morning’s commute
It’s likely to continue to keep snowing, lightly, until noon or 1 p.m. according to the National Weather Service. Up to an inch of new snow accumulation is expected.
This means the total accumulation could be 1 to 3 inches. While the snow is considered to be light, the morning commute could be tricky, and please give yourself more time in the morning.
Patch will be watching for school delays in the morning.
Saturday’s weather
It will be dry and sunny on Saturday, that is the good news, but it’s going to be freezing with temperatures around 20 degree and winds gusting up to 35 mph.
Sunday’s snow chance
The National Weather Service rescinded the Hazardous Weather Outlook for Connecticut Thursday morning for Sunday’s possible snowstorm, but it still says there is a 50 percent chance for some snow Sunday night and into Monday morning.
WFSB Meteorologist Scott Haney cautioned Thursday into Friday’s light snow event could complicate Friday’s morning commute.
And concerning Sunday’s snow chance, Haney says, “Light snow is possible before the day is over,” Haney said. “While a major snowstorm is possible Sunday night and Monday, recent information from some of our trusted computer guidance models suggests otherwise.”
Still, Haney said the storm needs to be watched closely.
