Petition Submitted to Stop Proposed Propane Storage Facility in North Branford

Guilford-based J.J. Sullivan Fuel Co. is seeking to build a 60,000-gallon storage facility on Ciro Road.

NORTH BRANFORD, CT — North Branford resident Peter White has filed a petition with the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to thwart the proposed propane storage facility in town.

The New Haven Register reports that White is seeking a declaratory ruling on whether it is in DEEP's jurisdiction to rule on the proposal.

White claims that the company's applications to DEEP and North Branford's Conservation & Inland Wetlands & Watercourses Agency are different, which he believes calls into question whether DEEP should be able to rule on the matter. DEEP has 60 days to answer the petition.
