Police Warn North Branford Residents Of Increase In Car Break-Ins

Thefts have increased over the last several weeks.

NORTH BRANFORD, CT — A growing number of cars in North Branford have been burglarized over the past several weeks, and local police say it's because the vehicles are unlocked.

In a Facebook post, North Branford police are warning residents that thieves are driving into neighborhoods to hit as many vehicles as possible.

"The suspects in these cases have been traveling into residential neighborhoods by car and victimizing as many vehicles that they can find UNLOCKED," wrote police. "In most cases they are able to steal purses, computers, GPS units, cellular phones, cash and loose change, car keys within the vehicles."

Several juvenile suspects were arrested recently by other police departments in connection with some of these North Branford and other break-ins.
