Racist Video Being Investigated By Cops, State Attorney's Office

The video shows young white men from North Branford using vile, racist language and referring to George Floyd's "weak-ass neck."

NORTH BRANFORD, CT — An explicitly racist video featuring North Branford residents that has been viewed by tens of thousands across social media is being investigated by local police and the New Haven State's Attorney’s Office.

Patch will not share the video here, but the 33-second clip shows at least three and possibly four young, white men. Two were identified as being from North Branford. "This is for all the n------ out there," they say. "All the n------. This is for George Floyd's weak-ass neck. George Floyd's weak-ass neck. Hope the next generation have stronger necks."

The video was first posted to Instagram by a person who said, "It’s 2021 and y’all still doin' this bs smh straight up sad."

Three of the men seen in the video are tagged. Each has since shuttered their Instagram and other social media pages. The video post on Instagram has more than 40,000 views.

One of the North Branford residents in the video attends Keene State College in New Hampshire.

The college, tagged in the video, responded:

"We are taking this seriously. The content in this video does not reflect Keene State's values in any way. We are now following up."

North Branford police confirmed that at least two of the men seen in the video are residents of North Branford. Police took to Facebook to say that the video is being actively investigated and is "currently being evaluated by the New Haven States Attorney’s office."

"We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners and community leaders to address this incident," police wrote, calling the video "disturbing, disgusting and abhorrent."

Police wrote that the video, "In no way identifies the values, morals or beliefs of any of our residents in North Branford."

"We along with all of you are angry and outraged by these individuals actions," police wrote. "We stand with all of our community in condemning racism and will proceed further with all recommendations and actions recommended by the Connecticut States Attorney’s office."
