NORTH BRANFORD, CT—"The worst of the storm has passed," Acting Town Manager Rory Burke said. "A huge thank you to North Branford Public works for doing an amazing job digging us out as always. Thanks also to the North Branford Police Department and North Branford Fire Department for braving the storm to keep everyone safe.

Post-storm reminders:
1) State statute and local ordinance require that sidewalks be cleared within 24 hours of a snowstorm. It's important for the safety of pedestrians and children who use them as bus stops.
2) Please help out our volunteer firefighters by clearing a 3-foot radius around hydrants. Every second matters in an emergency and the house you save could be your own!
3) Ensure that if you have a contractor plowing your driveway, they are not pushing snow from your property into the roadways. Public Works just spent the better part of a day clearing them.
4) Watch for snow drifts and ensure that exhaust vents are cleared.
5) Garbage pickup will NOT be delayed for the rest of the week. Put it out when you normally do. Residents whose pickup was today should put it out tonight.
6) Keep an eye on the forecast, as we have more snow in the forecast later this week.

Also, North Branford Public Schools are closed Tuesday.

Later this week, pay loaders and wing plows may be out shelving back gutters and dead ends in preparation for upcoming snow events, the department said.

"A big thank you to our crew for their top-notch service as always," department officials said. "As well as a thank you to our local businesses who supported us with extra plow trucks/drivers."
