Ted Kennedy Wins State Senate Seat in First Run for Political Office
Kennedy won the seat in the 12th senatorial district serving Branford, Durham, Guilford, Madison, Killingworth and North Branford.

Ted Kennedy has won the seat in Connecticut’s 12th Senatorial district defeating Republican Bruce Wilson Jr.
Kennedy’s name had been suggested for numerous political offices including then U.S. Sen. John Kerry’s seat after he was appointed to Secretary of State, according to the New Haven Register.
Kennedy won with 21,911 votes over Wilson’s 13,356 votes, according to the Connecticut Post.

Kennedy, 53, is a healthcare attorney and son of late Massachusetts Senator Edward Kennedy and nephew of President John F. Kennedy. He has lived in Branford with his family for more than 15 years. Kennedy previously told the Yale Daily News environmental protection and public health are important issues in the district, while jobs and the economy come first. He added that his rationale for running in Connecticut was simple as he has lived in the state for 30 years.
Upon winning, Kennedy thanked his supporters saying the real work begins now, the Register reports.
