2 Arrested In Fatal Shooting In North Haven: Police
Two people have been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in North Haven, according to police.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — Two people have been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in North Haven in 2021, according to police.
Davonte Warren, 28, was shot and killed on July 17, 2021, near the intersection of Dixwell Avenue and the entrance to the Route 40 Connector Eastbound.
Police responded to a report of gunfire on Dixwell Avenue and found a vehicle crashed on the Route 40 connector that was occupied by Warren.

Warren was pronounced dead at the scene with a fatal gunshot wound, according to police.
Witnesses told police they saw a vehicle pull next to Warren’s and two of the occupants fired several shots toward the victim’s car as both cars sped off.

Detectives identified the suspects after a “long and complex investigation,” according to police.
Amari Salcedo Jr., 22, and Deane Matta Jr., 24, both of New Haven, were arrested Wednesday in connection with the killing.
Salcedo was charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder. He was held in lieu of a $2 million bond.
Police said Matta is in custody for weapons charges stemming from an earlier North Haven arrest, but will be charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder. He will be held in lieu of an additional $2 million bond, according to police.
“We are thankful for the many agencies who assisted in this investigation, including, but not limited to; the New Haven Police Dept., East Haven Police Dept., Hamden Police Dept., Connecticut State Police, New Haven FBI, ATF, DEA, New Haven Shooting Crimes Task Force, and the New Haven States Attorney’s Office,” police wrote in a news release. “It is through these partnerships we are able to keep our communities safe and remove violent offenders from our streets.
“Since his murder, not a day went by without investigators saying the name Davonte Warren. We hope these arrests display our commitment to seeking justice against those who bring violence to North Haven. We will be relentless in our pursuit of offenders, and our memory will not fade over time. We will leverage any and all resources available to us, and will hold those accountable for their actions.
“Lastly, we wish to thank the North Haven Police investigators who worked tirelessly on this case for the last year and a half. Through their hard work and dedication, we are proud to provide justice to the family and friends of Davonte Warren.”
