Man Charged In Theft Of BMW At Gunpoint: North Haven Police

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A Hamden man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery in North Haven, according to police.

North Haven police responded around 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 1 to an apartment complex on Hartford Turnpike on the report of an armed robbery.

The victim was approached by multiple masked suspects who held him at gunpoint, stole his belongings, and took his BMW at gunpoint, according to police.

Police said a thorough investigation involving multiple agencies identified 20-year-old Khalil Marquis Council of Hamden as one of the suspects involved in the robbery.

Council was arrested on a warrant and charged with first-degree robbery (with a deadly weapon), conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, first-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny, larceny of a motor vehicle – third offense, and conspiracy to commit larceny of a motor vehicle – third offense.

Police said Council is currently incarcerated on a court-set $350,000 bond.

The stolen BMW was later recovered dismantled in Brentwood, New York (Long Island), according to police.

The robbery remains under investigation, and police said detectives are continuing to work to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects.
