Anderson Elected Chairwoman of Board of Education

Anderson appointed at last night's session.

Republican Anita Anderson replaced Steve DiCapua as chairperson of North Haven's Board of Education at last night's meeting. 

Anderson, a two-year veteran of the BoE, and a previous president of the Clintonville Elementary PTA and the PTA Council, was elected unanimously by the Board. 

DiCapua opted not to seek reelection, and endorsed Anderson for the position.

Speaking to The New Haven Register, Anderson said of the appointment:

"It is a wonderful board with a great legacy, and I'm looking forward to the future...My goal is for us to work together with the town and (Superintendent of Schools Robert) Cronin to get an education budget that will support the students of North Haven."

Two more appointments were finalized at last night's meeting, Republican Wesley O'Brien for Vice Chairman, and Democrat Carole Franceschet for Secretary.
