NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven Police are warning residents of recent thefts from motor vehicles and stolen vehicles in town that all share a common thread — they are crimes of opportunity.

“Newer model vehicles are equipped with key fobs and people will often leave one in the center console for convenience,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “If the vehicle is left unlocked, thieves simply press ‘start’ and steal your vehicle. It is also important to lock your vehicle if you have a remote garage door opener. We have had cases in the past in which thieves would activate the door to get entry into the garage/house.
