Caregiver Stole $6K From 79-Year-Old Client: North Haven Police
Police said the caregiver also left the victim, who is immobile and suffers from dementia, home alone for hours at a time.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A caregiver is accused of stealing about $6,000 from her client — a 79-year-old woman who was in need of 24-hour care, according to North Haven Police. The caregiver, 24-year-old Mariah Sparks of West Haven, left the immobile woman, who suffers from dementia, alone at home for hours at a time and stole several checks from her, police said.
The victim’s conservator noticed the theft after the checks were cashed on several different dates, according to police.
Sparks was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with second-degree larceny, reckless endangerment, conspiracy and cruelty to persons. She was held on a $35,000 bond.
