NORTH HAVEN, CT — Support is pouring in for the family of Maureen Munzner after she was tragically killed by a hit-and-run driver while she was walking Monday night in North Haven. Munzner, 57, was walking with her two children on Ridge Road at about 5:30 p.m. when she was struck by a car that fled the scene. She was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later. Police are still searching for the driver and continuing to investigate.

A memorial fund has been established on GoFundMe in “support of her loving family, Steve, Zachary, and Alex.” The funds donated to the campaign will “go directly to the Munzner family, primarily in support of Zachary and Alex for such things as education, summer camp programs, and support services,” according to organizers.

“We are all still quite in shock about the recent death of our beloved friend and longtime Spring Glen Church member Maureen Munzner,” according to the GoFundMe page, which was created by Ron Offutt. “The outpouring of love shown to the Munzner family is a testament to the far-reaching impact Maureen had on our community, whether at work or at home, at church or at school. Anyone who saw the costumes she made for North Haven's recent production of Beauty & the Beast saw firsthand the skill, the creativity, the commitment, and the care of her generosity. It will be good to gather together to mourn, to tell stories, to laugh, to cry, to sing, to pray.”
