Driver Sought In Fatal Hit-And-Run: North Haven Police
Police are asking for help with the investigation of the hit-and-run that killed a 57-year-old woman while she was walking with her children
NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven Police are asking for the public’s help with the investigation of a tragic hit-and-run that killed a 57-year-old woman while she was walking with her children Monday evening in North Haven. Police said the victim, who has been identified as Maureen Munzner, was walking with her two children on Ridge Road at about 5:30 p.m. on March 11 when she was struck by a red Ford. The Ford fled north on Ridge Road as witnesses unsuccessfully attempted to chase the car, according to police.
“A short time later a man called 911 reporting he struck a deer on Mount Carmel Road with his 2008 red Ford Fusion,” police said in a post on Facebook. “The vehicle had serious front end damage and a smashed windshield. The driver gave inconsistent stories regarding his travel pattern. Members of the South Central Connecticut Traffic Unit are coordinating a thorough investigation. The deceased victim and her family are owed an appropriate investigation, and our efforts will result in determining all of the facts associated with this tragedy.
“Investigators have secured several search and seizure warrants that will allow us to obtain cellular phone records from the driver’s service provider, and the authority to process the vehicle that we have possession of for physical and DNA comparison evidence. We are working with the State’s Attorney’s Office, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and the Connecticut Forensic Laboratory.
