‘Dollar Tree Grandpa Bandit’ Strikes In North Haven: Police

Police believe the suspect, who they say should be considered armed and dangerous, is the same man robbing dollar stores across the country.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven Police are advising residents to be on the lookout for a serial robber, dubbed the “Dollar Tree Grandpa Bandit,” who struck a Universal Drive store in North Haven this weekend. At about 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, the man entered the Dollar Tree Store at 420 Universal Drive with a handgun and a stun gun, according to police.

Police said the man sparked the stun gun and forced the store’s two female employees into an office before emptying the registers and a store safe. (To sign up for North Haven breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

“We believe our suspect is the same man robbing dollar stores across the country,” police said in a news release. “This suspect may be responsible for robberies from upstate New York to Idaho. He is described as a white man, with short white hair and a mustache, standing between 5-foot-10 and 6-feet tall and weighing around 200 pounds. He should be considered armed and dangerous.”
