Employee Injured During Fire Inside FedEx Building In North Haven
Firefighters battled a truck fire inside the FedEx facility that sent one employee to the hospital, according to officials.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — One employee was hospitalized after firefighters extinguished a vehicle fire inside the FedEx facility in North Haven on Monday, according to officials. Firefighters responded to the FedEx building, located at 347 State St., at 4:46 p.m. Upon arrival, fire companies found heavy smoke coming from one side of the 53,000-square-foot building and a burning parcel delivery truck was found inside, according to a press release from Fire Chief Paul Januszewski.
The building was operating at the time and many employees had been inside. Several employees had tried to put out the flames with fire extinguishers and their efforts likely helped to prevent the flames from spreading, according to Januszewski. The fire didn’t spread to any of the other vehicles located inside the facility. Firefighters put out the fire and worked to ensure that the fire was fully out and that it had not spread to the ceiling or other parts of the building

Two ambulances responded to the scene to evaluate employees and one employee was taken to an area hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, according to Januszewski.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, and fire units remained on the scene into the evening, awaiting a crew to remove the delivery truck from the building.
