Good Samaritan Carjacked in North Haven

A man stopped to help a couple who said they had car trouble and ended up pistol whipped and carjacked. Police are looking for the suspects.

A Good Samaritan who stopped to help a couple who said they had car trouble was struck in the head with a gun and carjacked by the same people, according to North Haven Police.

Police said that at about 6 p.m. on Sept. 8, a North Haven man was driving through the parking lot of Bank of America at 35 Washington Avenue when a man and woman flagged him down.

The couple said they had car trouble and requested assistance. While the victim was assisting the couple, an argument ensued and the man who claimed he had car trouble pulled out a handgun.

Police said he struck the victim in the head with the gun and the couple fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. The victim walked to the North Haven Fire Department where he received medical attention.

The male suspect was described as a tall thin black male in his mid-20s wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. The female was described as 25 years old, approximately 5-feet, 5-inches tall and weighing 155 pounds with shoulder length wavy hair wearing a floral dress. The vehicle they left behind was a black 2000 Nissan Maxima.

Several witnesses told police they observed the couple in the parking lot hours before the incident occurred.
