Home Care Provider Stole Jewelry from Elderly Woman: North Haven Police

The suspect is accused of stealing more than $13,000 worth of jewelry from the woman's bedroom.

North Haven police have charged a home care provider with stealing more than $13,000 worth of jewelry from an elderly woman.

Police said that a 70-year-old victim reported a theft from her home in May. She had noticed jewelry was missing from her bedroom nightstand one evening.

After conducting an inventory of all of the jewelry she owned, the victim realized she was missing more than $13,000 worth of items.

North Haven detectives identified the victim’s home care provider as a suspect.

Detectives were able to retrieve some of the stolen jewelry, and obtain an arrest warrant for the suspect.

Arian Nieves was arrested June 16 on a warrant and charged with second-degree larceny. She is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on July 2.
