NORTH HAVEN, CT — The suspects in connection with another illegal dumping incident in North Haven have been caught, according to First Selectman Michael Freda.
“This past weekend there was another illegal dumping on Valley Service Road here in North Haven,” Freda wrote in a post on Facebook. “I guess that the perpetrators thought that they were not going to be caught like the last perpetrators were because it was the weekend.

“The individuals were tracked down and they were caught. They have also been significantly fined. Although Crime will not pay here in North Haven, in these cases crime will definitely pay.
“A special thank you to our North Haven Police Department and our Town of North Haven Public Works Field Ops for an outstanding job of collaborating with my office.”

A New York man was arrested earlier this month in connection with the illegal dumping of debris, including a boat, along Valley Service Road in North Haven, according to police.

In an update Wednesday, North Haven police said the party responsible for the dumping was fined $520.
“Let this be clear: illegal dumping in North Haven will not be tolerated,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “It is not a shortcut. It is not someone else's problem. It is a violation of Connecticut law — and we will use every investigative tool available to identify those responsible and hold them accountable. License plates, witness information, DMV records, coordination with neighboring departments — we will follow the evidence wherever it leads. If you use our streets as your own personal dump, expect a court date or a hefty fine.
“Our roads, our parks, and our green spaces belong to this community. Trashing them is disrespectful to every resident who takes pride in this town — and we won't stand for it.”
