Jordan Jefferson, of Hamden, Named Director of Law Library

NORTH HAVEN – Jordan Jefferson, of Hamden, has been named the new director of the Lynne L. Pantalena Law Library as well as an associate professor of law at Quinnipiac University.

In her role, she manages all aspects of the Law Library's services, facilities, and staffing and teaches legal research.

Her vision of the modern academic library is one that is agile, responsive, collaborative and inclusive – “the crossroads of community and knowledge,” she said.

Jefferson comes to Quinnipiac from Yale Law School, where she served for 10 years, most recently as associate director of operations, outreach and engagement in the Lillian Goldman Law Library. Her legal research interests are wide-ranging, with a particular focus on criminal justice and access to justice, military and veterans’ issues, and LGBTQIA+ and women’s rights.

A frequent presenter on technology, pedagogy and service improvement in law libraries, she is also an active participant in national and regional professional associations.

“The law school is really invested in the library, in creating an innovative, collaborative, community-based space that allows students to engage with their intellectual life cycle. And that’s really thrilling for me,” Jefferson said.

Jefferson earned a bachelor of science degree in communications from the University of Evansville in Indiana as well as a law degree from the University of La Verne College of Law in Ontario, California. She also has a master’s degree in library and information science from the University of Washington.
