Man Cited In Illegal Dumping Incident In North Haven: Police

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A man has been cited and fined more than $1,000 in connection with illegal dumping on Valley Service Road in North Haven, according to police.

“Valley Service Road has been an ongoing dumping problem, so officers have been running routine checks of the area,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “We have seen a dramatic decrease in events because of our proactive measures, but some still haven't gotten the message. Overnight, we delivered the message — officers found a fresh pile of dumped construction debris: garbage bags, windows, wood frames, etc. Officers began to investigate, and were able to develop a suspect vehicle.

“Our officers believed the vehicle to be in New Haven, and subsequently located the truck, with the driver asleep inside.”

The 61-year-old driver was cited more than $1,000 for littering, operating an unregistered vehicle, no insurance, and misuse of a stolen license plate, according to police. His truck was also towed, police said.

“Illegal dumping has become a real problem for this town, and we're not letting it slide,” police wrote. “We're going to keep going after the people responsible. Get the message: we're not going to tolerate this, we will find you.”
