Man Fights With Officers, Tries To Ditch Drugs After Crash: North Haven Police
Police responded to a single-car crash off I-91 in North Haven and say the operator began to fight with officers during the investigation.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A man who was involved in a single-car crash off I-91 in North Haven Wednesday afternoon, is accused of fighting with officers investigating the crash and trying to dispose of crack cocaine and PCP during the incident, according to police.
At about 12 noon on June 21, police responded to Route 22 near the Exit 11 off ramp for a report of a one-car crash into a guardrail. Police said that during the crash investigation, officers noticed the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle, reach into the car then attempt to walk away. “Officers asked the man to stop, but he refused, and continued to walk away from the officers clenching both fists,” police said in a press release. “As officers approached him, the man began to fight with the officers, and he tried to throw several small items. The investigation revealed the man was attempting to dispose of five bags of crack cocaine, and a small amount of PCP.”

Steven Rivera, 35, was arrested on charges of possession of hallucinogenic, possession of narcotics, interfering with an officer, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, reckless driving and failure to drive in proper lane.
