Man Scammed Woman, 88, Out Of $4K: North Haven Police
Police are asking for help identifying a man they say scammed an 88-year-old woman out of $4,000 after saying her grandson had been arrested
NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven Police are asking for help identifying a man they say scammed an 88-year-old woman out of $4,000 after claiming to be an attorney and saying her grandson was arrested and needed bond money. The 88-year-old California woman was contacted by the man in June and was told she needed to send $4,000 for bond money, according to police.
Police said the woman was instructed to purchase two $2,000 Best Buy gift cards and provided the “attorney” with the numbers on the gift cards. The suspect used the gift cards at the Best Buy in North Haven on June 14, according to police.
