North Haven Business Cited In Tobacco Sting Operation

Police conducted unannounced compliance inspections on Wednesday where a person under 18 attempted to purchase tobacco products.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — One North Haven business was cited for illegally selling cigarettes to a minor during unannounced compliance checks on Wednesday, according to police. North Haven School Resource Officer DiCocco teamed up with the Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program employees and volunteers to conduct underage sales enforcement, according to police.

Police said the group traveled to 20 North Haven stores that sell tobacco products. Underage volunteers, supervised by law enforcement, attempted to purchase cigarettes during the operation.

At 19 of the locations, ID was requested and the sale didn’t occur, police. Aircraft Package Store, located at 394 Washington Avenue, was the only store fined for the sale of cigarettes to a minor during the operation, according to police.
