North Haven K-9 Zeus Passes Away

Zeus was the police department's first K-9. He was 8 years old.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — The North Haven Police Department is mourning the loss of its first K-9, Zeus, who had been a member of the force for more than six years and was credited with numerous successful searches and tracks for suspects. The police department announced the sad news over the weekend.

“It is with great sadness, we are announcing the passing of North Haven Police Department’s first K-9, Zeus,” police said in a post on Facebook on Saturday morning. “K-9 Zeus had a cancerous tumor in his abdomen that was detected very recently. The tumor ruptured and he had extensive internal bleeding.

“K-9 Zeus, an 8-year-old German shepherd, has been credited with numerous successful searches and tracks of fleeing suspects. Zeus has been a member of the North Haven Police Department for more than six years. Zeus's passing is a great loss to the North Haven Police Department as well as the community.”
